Children of Men- Can You Imagine?

Can you imagine, if all the small, smiling, crying, silly faces of children were to disappear? All that would be left is the serious, pushy, driven world of adults with no one to soften our every day blows?

An interesting movie- Children of Men, has come to my attention. The scenario is unfathomable, yet intriguing. In the year 2027, people no longer could conceive children, and the youngest person in the world has recently died. It is set in England, but this situation is occurring all over the world. There is no answer as to why, or if the world food supply was compromised by chemicals or radiation, or other factors, but the result is the same. No more children. Ever. The end of the human race, and everyone knows it.

What is the likelihood of this scary scenario?

Time magazine has an idea…“Some birth-control enthusiasts want to answer with a barrage of coercive measures ranging from special taxes on any family with more than two children to sterility drugs in the public water supply.”

http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,903126-1,00.html (full article)

‘Experts’ predict that the Earth is being overpopulated in many areas and subliminal propaganda is already in place to begin our conditioning in control of our numbers. In modern society it is accepted for a couple to have 2 children. Couples with three children may be seen as extravagant- while those with 4 or more are approached with jokes about fertility- as if they have no knowledge of birth control. Well, I want to accept that in most cases, families with large numbers truly want and appreciate the blessings of a big family. (I, myself have six wonderful beautiful additions to the world- believe it or not, and I’m not old, not fat, not fanatical, and not accepting everything I’m fed through the media.)

But the movie continues with one man helping a young minority woman get out of the country to safe haven. He finds out that she’s pregnant-and was a commodity for all to capture. (Warring revolutionary groups, the government, etc.) Plus-there was a very cool Romanian gypsy woman who helped them at the last that I enjoyed watching….But as all sad stories go, the ending was bittersweet. I’m sure humankind survives, but in a real worse case scenario- I don’t think we’d be that lucky. It was a very disturbing vision of possibilities.

But population control is not a new idea. We just deny that it could be happening right under our noses.

English Churchman, Thomas Robert Malthus (1766-1834). In his “An Essay on the Principle of Population,” Malthus wrote: “All children born, beyond what would be required to keep up the population to a desired level, must necessarily perish, unless room may be made for them by the deaths of grown persons …Therefore …we should facilitate, instead of foolishly and vainly endeavoring to impede, the operations of nature in producing this mortality…” 32

Take a look at this article about the Population Control Agenda by Stanley K. Monteith M.D.

http://www.radioliberty.com/pca.htm It is Christian based, but focus on the facts if you will.

In Frank Furedi’s article on Population Control on the Spiked website, he presents an eye opening look at the plot against preservation of human life.

http://www.spiked-online.com/index.php?/site/article/3503/

“Having children, especially lots of children, is now discussed as an ‘eco-crime’ on a par with pollution. From this perspective, a new human life is seen as little more than another producer of carbon; new life is seen as a form of pollution.”

We can’t just sleep as the world leaders decide what is best for us as a whole. Who knows how many Einsteins, Hemmingways, Braums, Wright Brothers, Martin Luther Kings, Kennedys, Washingtons, Marie Curie’s, Mother Theresa’s, and other normal beautiful children have already had their future lives ended by blind conditioning of population control efforts?

Surprise, surprise… When I wrote this blog, I wasn’t too sure that maybe this insane idea was just fiction. But then a reader sent me this website link to The Voluntary Human Extinction Movement-

http://www.vhemt.org/

Can you imagine this? Boy, I sure do wish I was just watching a movie instead of reading about it really happening with my own eyes! Get ready, boys and girls. It seems your days are numbered.

Modern Ghostbusters- Who ya Gonna Call?

I walked through an old Romanian cemetery today. There were no signs of life among the massive headstones, just a creepy feeling at the back of your neck, a sudden rush of cold air, and the impression that someone is watching, waiting. Here it is normal, but what do you do when these entities chose to interact with the living?

Beyond practical science is the area of the supernatural. Many people believe and have experienced strange phenomena in their lifetimes. Moving objects, floating apparitions and things that go bump in the night. You would think that all this is just the stuff of movies, but many organizations exist that investigate the abnormal, and even solve your ghostly problems if possible.

Recently, in Great Britain, an “advisor” was called in to the Tea Tree Gully Library. Fully paid for by the establishment-the unwanted guests were expelled and it was back to business for the employees. Quick, efficient, and nobody gets hurt.

But this is not an isolated case and there really is no way of explaining away all the “sightings” and weird events. So there are many, MANY, organizations across the globe that can help with these strange situations. You can find an extensive list of investigators at www.ghostvillage.com The site is a little slow- but worth it.

It’s too bad that life can’t be like the movies. You won’t see Bill Murray rushing into save the day with his ectoplasmic ray machine drawing the spectre into a mechanical box for safekeeping. But you will see regular people with all sorts of gadgets- sound recorders, night cameras, temperature gauges, etc. who are dedicated on detecting paranormal activity. They really believe in their work- even if the rest of us don’t. Who are we to say, really? But I guarantee- if it happens that YOU are unexpectedly approached with chains rattling overhead, chattering voices in the night, doors closing by themselves, or motions from the corner of your eye when you’re alone-Help is on the way. Just give us a call.

The Mosquitoes are Coming-Why should we care?

Rio De Janeiro is at war. The enemy is small, beady eyed, with long white striped legs and a thirst for humans. It bites during the day and likes warm, humid places. Politicians are quarreling over who will fight this tiny enemy. The infection is called Dengue Fever and comes from mosquito bites spread by the Aegis aegypti mosquito. It can make you sick for over a week with severe headaches and joint pains. A more deadly form causes internal and external bleeding, and affects fewer than 5 percent of cases but has shown signs of growing — often affecting people who have recovered from a less-severe form.

There have been 75,000 cases in Rio de Janeiro this year- with 2,000 new ones now every day. The army has been deployed in the city but they are having a tough time against the invader.

“We have to enter into combat like we’re fighting a war, to minimize the suffering of the population,” said field hospital commander Maj. Roberto Tury.

So, what exactly is happening?

Apathy and lack of education about mosquitoes as carriers of disease.

Stagnant water. Most people don’t know that standing water in barrels, plant pots, jars, bottles, puddles, ponds, tires, and non-chlorinated swimming pools, are the breeding grounds for mosquito babies.

No government intervention to help clean up affected areas, and uncovered water treatment centers. It doesn’t help that the neighborhoods most affected are the most dangerous, crime filled areas and has authorities afraid of spraying insecticides.

Here’s an interesting quote from USA Today- “Crevices in dilapidated hovels, old tires and trash piles collect standing water where the insect breeds, while kids toting automatic weapons scare away the few public health agents who might teach slum dwellers how to protect themselves.”

Why should we care?

What does all this talk about mosquitoes and disease mean to most Americans? At this point, as with other outbreaks around the world, probably nothing. But if it spreads to our country, we need to be ready, adjust our thinking and consider that not all outbreaks of disease occur in third world countries.

Since the disease was eradicated in many areas, there have been new cases along th U.S. Mexico border, moving up into Texas, and even touching Hawaii in 2001. Children are at high risk, as well as pregnant women who can transmit the disease to the baby before or during birth.

Yellow is infested areas and red is epidemic areas.

According to Reuters Magazine: “Widespread appearance of dengue in the continental United States is a real possibility,” … a commentary in the Journal of the American Medical Association.

When elimination is simple- by wearing insect repellent, clearing our spaces of standing water, having window screens, and wearing light, protective clothing, why should we even risk being bitten?

The answer is simple. No one cares about a little bug. No one thinks being bitten would ever be a problem. Just ask someone who has lost a loved one from this disease, and maybe you’d have a different opinion. It’s time we start thinking a little bit.

But there is hope. Currently, new research is being done to modify male mosquitoes- killing the young before disease can spread. http://www.wired.com/science/planetearth/news/2008/01/gm_insects

A Newsweek article by Mac Margolis shows how one town has won the battle against mosquitoes:

“My favorite example comes from a little town called Adolfo, 270 kms from São Paulo. Surrounded by cities plagued by dengue, the keepers of Adolfo knew they needed something more than bug repellent to ward off the disease. They needed citizen involvement. So they offered a carrot. Families that managed to eliminate pools of water and unkempt potted plants where mosquitoes flourish were rewarded with free wide band Internet access. The result: while nearby towns like José Bonifácio have all they can do to keep the mosquito at bay, Adolfo has been dengue free this year. The town fathers called their project Adolfo Connected to the World. They might have called it beating the millennium bug. “

Your Human Footprint

What effect does your individual life have on the planet? How many cups of coffee/tea do you consume each day- for the total sum of your existence? How much trash does an average person throw away? How many tears will you shed in the 2 billion 475 million, 5,076 seconds that you will spend on earth?

A British study has estimated all these facts- and more. If we could see how many products we each consume- all piled together at one time, instead of spread out in years- it would be astounding.

You can calculate your individual “human footprint” here at this website:

http://www.channel4.com/science/microsites/H/human_footprint/

I am 46 years old, and guess what? ! So far I have had 372 kilograms of chocolate, eaten 2.6 cows, bought 314 books, and learned that using bar soap is better because it takes 800 years for the gel chemicals to break down in the environment! I also (supposedly), have 219 friends in my social network. So where are you guys? On perpetual vacation? Get over here!… Oh, they say that the internet causes a reduction in close friendships-well that explains it.

I have spoken 69,651,400 words so far, and more, as I read this out loud. Do blogs count? What about things you say to yourself?

It is estimated that I have exactly 1 billion seconds left in my lifetime. So here are some things I’d like to do with them: Listen to more country music, dance often, find a house on the beach, play my guitar more, exercise my smile muscles, and maybe get a dog.

But for today, I’m off to kick the tv out of my bedroom, (if you want to know why, then test your footprint) and find my 315th book to read. What about you?

Norway’s Doomsday Vault

Deep inside the Arctic circle is a giant vault that is being used to store up to 2 billion of the world’s agricultural seeds. This project is the brainchild of Professor Wangari Maatha, in collaboration with Monsanto and the Government of Norway. In theory, it was created as a safeguard for the diversity of the world’s crops. It has the best of intentions on the surface, but with several inherent flaws.

When Noah built the proverbial “Ark”, he had some knowledge as to what was going to happen later. He then loaded up the animals, food, people etc, and everything floated smoothly after that. It was irrelevant that no one had ever seen such a catastrophe before. All were invited to join in so he didnt have a monopoly as to who would survive. But the current Doomsday scenario seems to be directed toward who has the keys to the ark.
Here are some responses to the Norway seed bunker:

OK, so I think this is a great idea…in theory. Say a global tragedy does strike and all plant life is destroyed. What are the chances that in this scenario a human survives to plant these plants? If, by change, one or more DO survive what are the chances of them knowing about these frozen seeds? Then their is the small problem of locating them…seeing as their buried in a mountain…oh yeah, and how exactly are they going to get to the arctic? Oh, laughable laughable science.

Melissa, Newport News, VA

That’s interesting. Does Monsanto hold the keys to the vault?

K. Roesch, New Orleans, LA, USA

Wait a second… Doomsday? Silurian Extinction? Nuclear War?

Does anyone realize that seeds or no seeds, the Earth becomes INHABITABLE in these scenarios?

Congratulations, we survived…

…nuclear war, but the soil isn’t going to be replantable for 200 years… and unless I’m off on my biology, we don’t usually live that long.

…an extinction event meteor collision, but our crops won’t see the sun for another century.

…a catastrophic rise in ocean levels due to global warming, but now we have nowhere to plant the seeds.

….a third ice age, but we still have nowhere to plant the seeds.

Did I miss something?

Arpit, Dallas, TX

It seems to me that the bunker is a good idea- essentially, But we would be stupid to think that if the Doomsday scenario were to occur- that we would have all our needs met as survivors of such a crisis.

Have scientists considered the fact that many plants need insects to reproduce? So where is the depository to save these creatures? And what if the basic soil is contaminated? Or the water? Is there storage enough for this also? Perhaps they should plan to divide storage responsibility of these other needed survival elements among other countries or corporations.

It would be smart for a few private individuals to take matters in their own hands and create their own “bunker” of sorts. What would you save? Where? In what quantity? Who would be allowed in? The young, the smart, the qualified? We are fooling ourselves if we think this is a unique idea and that those who are “In the Know” aren’t already preparing this somewhere here on earth.

In Search of the “God” Atom

Scientists across the world are trying to find the one particle that is the source of our physical reality. It’s a multi-million dollar race with possibly devastating consequences.
Some locations:
A 17 mile long tunnel below the French- Swiss border
A 20 mile long machine in Beijing China
Fermi Laboratory- U.S.

To the normal person, quantum physics is beyond comprehension. We take what we see as concrete fact. A cup is a cup. A table is composed of wood, glue and screws. Life seems simple to our eyes. But in fact, all things are composed of atoms, particles, sub atomic particles, etc. Even time as we know it is not constant but elastic and negotiable.

So what are we supposed to think when those of super-human intelligence begin smashing atoms in secret laboratories and search the aftermath for what they consider to be “His” fingerprint on creation? Then if something goes seriously wrong, and a hole the size of Montana rips through the fabric of the universe- are we competent enough to repair it? This is my question. Plus, the theory exists that it could also unleash millions of “black holes” that float around, maybe gather in in mass, and draw other matter into them.
“Honey, where’s the car?”
“Oh, that big black hole came and swallowed it up.”
“And the cat?”
“He went along for the ride.”

There comes a time when we must take our hands off the wheel and let what is a mystery- stay a mystery. Don’t we have enough on our plates to fix right now in this world? Let’s find a cure for AIDS. A new form of renewable energy. A solution for the world’s hungry. An understanding between cultures.

So we know we are letting a genie out of a bottle- opening Pandora’s box, playing with fire, running with scissors. Like children we cannot escape our own curiosity, and when fantasy becomes fiction, Chicken Little will be protected in his own small bunker reeling from the results.
